In 1780, Benjamin Franklin’s daughter organized the Ladies Association of Philadelphia, the largest women’s relief effort of the Revolutionary War. Its members raised roughly $300,000 in Continental dollars and sewed more than 2,000 shirts for Washington’s threadbare troops.
Its botanical linework echoes the gilded frames that surround portraits of the men and women who lived through the Revolution — a gold headband that feels like stepping out of a painting.

It is our love letter to the ordinary men and women who gave everything they had — including their lives — so that the rest of us could inherit a free nation.
Each piece is named for a woman whose courage helped win American independence: the quiet heroes whose names rarely made it into the textbooks.
History remembers the generals. We wanted to give each of these women a crown.
Freedom was never free, and it was never permanent by default. It was fought for, paid for in full, and kept — generation after generation — only by people who show up for it.

WHY FRAUNCES TAVERN and THE MET:
Sophie Kaye photographed the collection on location at Fraunces Tavern — the Lower Manhattan tavern where George Washington bid farewell to his officers on December 4, 1783 — and at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, home to one of the world’s most significant collections of American Revolutionary‑era decorative arts and portraiture.
Every piece began as a study of a specific artwork or artifact. One location is where the Revolution was lived; the other is where its art has been preserved.
The REVOLUTION Collection exists in the space between the two.
DESIGNER’S INSPIRATION / MUSINGS:
The Sarah Headband began with an ornamental picture frame at The Met — the kind of gilded, botanical frame that surrounds the portraits of the men and women who lived through the Revolution. I wanted you to feel like you had stepped out of one of those paintings.
Sarah Franklin Bache organized women to sew thousands of shirts for soldiers — a revolution won with needle and thread. Every flower on this headband is my thank‑you to her, and to all the women whose work kept history moving.
